    Description

Very Rare and original, ca1900 Reverse on Glass and Chrome, Advertising Countertop Cigar Cutter. This fantastic, Advertising Cigar Cutter measures approx. 4 1/2” tall and 8” x 6” at the base. This rare Advertising Cigar Cutter advertises “Flor de Valentine Cigars” manufactured by A.S. Valentine & Sons. The Cutter is not signed by the maker but was likely manufactured by the Brunhoff Manufacturing Company of Cincinnati, Ohio.
This outstanding, Reverse on Glass Cigar Cutter features an mahogany base with a nickel plated, pressed steel and cast iron body. The front panel is a reverse on glass advertising image featuring that reads simply “Flor de Valentine Cigar”.
There are two different size openings on the cast iron, top panel into which the tip of a cigar can be inserted. A spring tension lever on the right hand side swings a blade across the openings nipping off the tip of the inserted Cigar. The blade appears to be sharp and the mechanism is strong and in excellent working condition.
This very rare and attractive, ca1900 Countertop Advertising Cigar Cutter is in very good, original condition - there are no cracks, chips, breaks, repairs or structural damage of any kind. All of the surfaces of the Cigar Cutter are 100% original - there has been no replating, repairs, surface touch-up or restoration of any kind. The reverse on glass panel is generally well preserved with some minor and unobtrusive small spots of flaking to the lettering. We have seen a few other examples of this style Cigar Cutter over the past 41+ years and in each case the reverse on glass has had significant staining and damage - the example offered here is quite well preserved and displays beautifully. The nickel plating on the side and back panels is in excellent condition while there is some wear to the plating on the top surface. As stated above, the spring return, cutter mechanism is in excellent, working condition.
A very rare and original, ca1900 Reverse on Glass, Countertop Advertising Cigar Cutter and a fantastic addition to any collection!!

    Important Notes about Shipping Charges:
The amount quoted for Shipping & Handling is calculated by eBay and is equal to the EXACT amount charged by the Post Office plus a .00 "packing fee" - the .00 fee is our only compensation for the virgin packing materials we use on all of our professionally packaged boxes as well as our cost for the salaried help that does most of our packing - as I am sure you can see, we make NO profit on the Shipping charges and, in fact, our costs are usually greater than the .00 fee. Please contact us if there are any issues regarding the cost of shipping.
