Description
Excellent Johnson Octave Mandolin. This is a beautiful and well constructed instrument with bell like clarity and tone on all strings up and down the neck.
The neck is straight and has great intonation. The action is perfect and easy to play.
The maple back and sides with a solid spruce top create an amazing sound reminiscent of a hammered dulcimer.
It is by no coincidence violins and other age tested instruments like quality mandolins are also made this way with maple backs and sides and spruce tops.
This instrument conveniently has two strap buttons and is held perfectly balanced with the use of a nice guitar strap.
Octave mandolins are amazing instruments and are surprisingly rare and difficult to find.
The tone and range pairs perfectly with guitar, with fiddle and other folk instruments, but it excels also in the classical realm being a perfect match with cello or even playing solo cello pieces.
I am a lute player and I don't have time for this great instrument sadly,
so I'd rather it go to a good home where it will have more use.
This Johnson octave mandolin creates a rich, shimmering sound and has a distinct, Celtic-inspired look.
Tuned G-D-A-E in unison pairs, one octave below a mandolin.
