Description
We upgraded our TVs to the 2015-2016 OLED models and no longer use this one. It's great for 3D technologies like VorpX PC drivers, Nvidia 3D TV Play (Driver release 418 and prior), and the few console games that support it. There are also tons of great movies release to 3D bluray, although those releases are slowing down every year. I think there have only been 5-10 decent releases in 3D since 2020. Wonder Woman, Godzilla, Trolls, and a few less-mainstream titles. This 47" has been ultra-reliable for us. We used it primarily for PS3/PS4 use, but occasionally some movies. I went to Xbox this year with the Series X and there are very few 3D games for the console.
Features:
1080P
Passive 3D technology
Wifi (utilizes 1 USB port for the adapter)
60Hz native panel, upscales to 120Hz motion smoothing
SMART functions:
I believe YouTube dropped support for this in 2017. I think Netflix is still supported, but I cannot be sure. We moved to an in-home DLNA media server solution and haven't used the apps since 2018.
Comes with 3 remotes. I had an extra left over from our other 3D TV. I have 2 sets of glasses as well.
Minor gripes:
2010-2013 TVs were quite common to use edge-lit LED panels. While they did produce better blacks, they do introduce an effect called "flashlighting" in a very dark room with a dark scene. You'll see the edges of the screen light up more in some areas in dark scenes. I took a picture of this to give the best representation I could. See picture #6. Notice the glowing corners where the light is stronger along the edges. Again, this is visible on every TV from the era. It just bugs me more since I am accustomed to the OLED panels of our other TVs.
I don't have the adapter cable to plug in RCA/Component cables. I lost them years ago and they haven't resurfaced.
The stand has some minor scrapes. The area of the plastic bezel near the touch controls has some very minor sub-surface deformities that I can only relate to those little lines that look like cracks in your car's headlights after a few years. Zero effect on the touch sensitivity of the controls. Also can only be seen in very bright environment.
